So here it is everyone, the Steve Martin monologue that was a tribute to Gilda Radner. She had died that afternoon, the same day as the season finale. While Steve is presenting the “Dancing in the Dark” sketch (from the Steve Martin/Blues Brothers episode) he’s trying to hold back tears. This was just an unforgettable SNL moment that crushes your heart when you watch it.
I’m bringing this back because today is May 20th. On this day 24 years ago, we lost Gilda Radner.

"In 1971, I was earning sixty dollars a week doing pantomimes for kids in Toronto, Ontario, elementary schools."
With news of the passing of Dr. Joyce Brothers, I can’t get this old SNL mention of her out of my head. My apologies in advance for the irreverence.
OMG you guys! this video is soo great and sad because as you may know, Gilda suffered a miscarriage during Haunted Honeymoon and i think this interview was around the time when it happened.
ugh, just the thought that there could be a Lily Wilder in the world just makes my heart hurt.
Tap your troubles away. You bounced the big check, your mom has the vapors. Tap your troubles away, your car had a wreck, they’re serving you papers. When you’re the one that it always rains on, simply try putting your Mary-Janes on!

From the Season 3 Chevy Chase episode. This was the “After Love” sketch. A sketch about having an awkward moment after a night of love making with someone you barely know
This is from the Season 2 (Episode 13) Steve Martin episode. This was the “Lovers” sketch. I love sketches like these, especially any sketch from the 70s that involved Gilda and Steve together
