It was a big weekend for “Saturday Night Live”: Not only did Kristen Wiig come back to host the show for the first time since her departure last year, but Seth Meyers confirmed that next year, he’ll take over “Late Night” forJimmy Fallon. Naturally, they celebrated. After the show, the whole crew headed to Ruby Foo’s in Times Square for a late dinner, where they joined by Max Greenfield, Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill. According to a partygoer, “the whole cast and crew were partying,” though Wiig spent most of her time catching up with a very pregnant Maya Rudolph.

The Simpsons will go for laughs next season by putting on a Wiig: Kristen Wiig, the former Saturday Night Live star who returned as host…

I forgot to point this SNL fact out this past Sunday.  Out of the 6 ladies who are former cast members to have come back to host, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig are the only ones to host the Mother’s Day episode of Saturday Night Live.  Julia not only was the first of the bunch to host that episode, but she’s the first former female cast member to come back to host.  Molly Shannon is the first female to be hired and work for Lorne Michaels to host and to host the Mother’s Day episode.

• This will be the 744th overall episode
• This will be Kristen’s first time hosting
• She’s only the 4th cast member to host after the season they left the cast.  Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy have done it before
• Last time it was done was back in 1984, almost 30 years ago.  It’s only happened once under Lorne Michaels (Chevy Chase in the 1977-78 season)
• Kristen will be the 5th and final woman to host this season
• Kristen will become the 29th overall cast member to come back to host the show, the 24th cast member to host after being hired by Lorne Michaels
• Also, she will be the 6th overall female cast member to host SNL, but only the 5th to be hired by and work under Lorne Michaels (Julia Louis-Dreyfus worked under Dick Ebersol)
• This will be Vampire Weekend’s 3rd time as the musical guest
• Not counting those who were cast members in the 1990s that stayed on into the 2000s, but Kristen will be the 4th cast member that joined the cast in the 2000s to host the show.  From that era, all 4 of them to host are women (The others were Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph.  Maya joined the cast in May 2000 and while Tina Fey was hired as writer in 1997 and became head writer in 1999, she joined the cast in 2000).
